As part of this initiative, the Department of Neurosurgery is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-track faculty position focusing on AI applications in brain tumor diagnosis, treatment, and/or health outcomes. Additionally, applications for neurosurgical diseases, i.e. cerebrovascular disease, primary and metastatic tumors treated by stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), etc. where data science, machine learning, and AI applications may improve diagnosis, treatment, and/or disease prevention are of interest. The Lillian S. Wells Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida, College of Medicine is committed to providing comprehensive clinical services for the diagnosis, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients suffering from diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system, including brain tumors, aneurysms, stroke, epilepsy, functional disorders, and spinal disorders and injuries. Our clinical care mission also extends throughout North Central Florida through regional neurosurgery programs. We offer the full spectrum of neurosurgical and neuro-oncology treatment options for both adults and pediatric patients. Our research labs and investigator-led initiatives and clinical trials are developing promising new treatments for neurological diseases that are extremely difficult to treat with conventional therapies. The candidate will join a well-established epilepsy group comprising 5 full-time and 3 part-time adult neurologists and one faculty neuroscientist, complemented by 3 advanced practice nurses and supported by neurosurgery, neuropsychology, neuropathology and neuroradiology that together comprise the UF Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. The incoming candidate is guaranteed at least 0.2 FTE protected research time for a 2-year period upon hire. The position may include a part-time assignment at the Gainesville VA for interested candidates. The position will interest individuals with an interest in surgical epilepsy, neurophysiology and brain imaging, but all fields related to translational brain science in epilepsy will be considered.
