| Responsible for monitoring, tracking, and operating the University of Florida’s Central Energy Plants,
including the electrical, steam, and chilled water production equipment. Responsibilities include:
operating, regulating and monitoring all Utility Plant equipment in an efficient and safe manner. Creating
preventative and corrective maintenance work orders for Utility Plant Mechanics. The position monitors
the system controls and evaluates trend performance of plant equipment against an established level of
service. The Operator investigates and assists with troubleshooting the thermal plants’ conditions and
controls and coordinates with mechanics for equipment shutdowns. Operators help enforce Standard
Operating Procedures and maintain a safe working environment as Lockout/Tagout Issuing Agent. The
thermal plants are monitored 24-hours per day. Shift work is required.
