Responsibilities

As a member of the Practice Monitoring Department, your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Engaging public accountants in an open and constructive manner so as to understand their business processes and contribute to improvements in audit quality by:
- Performing a review of audit engagements to assess for compliance with current auditing standards and practices
- Performing a review of the public accountancy firm's system of quality control for audit engagements to assess for compliance with Singapore Standard on Quality Control 1. (i.e. SSQC 1)
- Preparing reports to highlight issues noted in the inspection and assessing their impact on audit quality
- Sharing best practice initiatives in efforts to assist firms in strengthening their quality controls framework

• Articulate viewpoints in a clear, concise and impactful manner at various platforms and committee meetings
• Be part of a team of officers that assist in initiatives to uplift the standards of the audit profession by conducting workshops and conferences
• Having the opportunity to interact with foreign regulatory agencies at international workshops/conferences and keep abreast with developments in the profession globally
• Supporting committees through preparation of agendas, reports and recording of minutes
• Working with stakeholders within and outside ACRA on various projects to help improve the quality of audit in Singapore

Requirements

• Professional training in Accountancy  
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the audit profession
• Technically competent and conversant with both the requirements of the auditing and accounting standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on engagement and interaction with public accountants in Singapore
• Good project management skills and the ability to work within stipulated timelines
• Able to engage and manage stakeholders within and external to the organisation
• Able to work independently as well as in a team
