The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our biophilic City in a Garden.



You will be involved in projects and activities to support our animal health, animal welfare and veterinary public health and wildlife management programmes. Programmes would include tasks such as technical evaluation of animal disease health status in other countries, the accreditation of countries and animal establishments for trade; and implementing antimicrobial resistance projects for animals. As part of job rotation and career development, you will also be seconded to the Compliance Management Division under the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).


Your duties will include:

  • Participate in joint project teams e.g. One Health, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) activities
  • Engage in animal health and welfare outreach activities to public and stakeholders e.g. private veterinarians  
  • Engage in veterinary clinical medicine e.g. Trap-Neuter-Release Management (TNRM) and wildlife management programmes
  • Work as part of a team in animal disease contingency planning
  • Represent the agency at regional and international platforms
  • Conduct regulatory inspections at licensed establishments and other areas
  • Plan and develop policies and programmes in support of animal health and welfare


Duties during secondment in Singapore Food Agency will include:

  • Design and recommend programmes and action plans plans of actions for zoonosis, animal disease and other veterinary public health matters e.g. antimicrobial resistance for food animals and food animal products;
  • Conduct risk analysis and epidemiological reporting related to veterinary public health matters;
  • Carry out animal disease investigation and response at food businesses and provide assistance with foodborne outbreak investigations;
  • Carry out examinations of food animals, premises and equipment when a veterinary opinion/certification is required
  • Provide technical expertise on veterinary matters and animal diseases e.g.
    • veterinary and meat inspections and accreditation matters for overseas and local food farms and slaughterhouses
    • support contingency plans in relation to food animal farms and slaughterhouses



  • Degree in Veterinary Science
  • Candidates with relevant job experience in veterinary, zoology, public health management and accreditation standards on food farms and slaughterhouses in Singapore or overseas will have an advantage.
  • Team player with initiative, drive and good interpersonal/communication skills and able to work independently.
  • Good writing, analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Good IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
