Singapore Customs is a government agency under the Ministry of Finance. Re-constituted on 1 April 2003, Singapore Customs is the lead agency on trade facilitation and revenue enforcement matters. It is also responsible for the implementation of customs and trade enforcement measures including those related to Free Trade Agreements and strategic goods.

BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE (BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIVITY)

   

The Networked Trade Platform Office (NTPO) in Singapore Customs is newly set-up to drive the development and implementation of the Networked Trade Platform (NTP) initiatives.  Hosted by Singapore Customs, the NTPO reports directly to the National Trade and Logistics Inter-Agency Steering Committee (NTLSC).  More information on NTP can be found on this link - https://www.customs.gov.sg/about-us/national-single-window/networked-trade-platform

 

Job Description

As a business and industry development executive, your role is to grow the NTP’s suite of service and network of cross-border connectivity. You will identify and engage potential partners from Singapore and abroad, evaluate the fit of their services for NTP users, negotiate and effect the collaboration with the appropriate service partners. You will be responsible for identifying commercial opportunities, and engage end-users (and industry) to co-create and develop new solutions that bridge existing market gaps.  

You will also lead the planning, identification, negotiation, and development of a network of cross border digital trade connectivity. This will involve working with both governments and private parties overseas.

You will need to keep abreast of trends and market conditions and recommend priorities for business development and cross border connectivity.

 

Requirements

  • Preferably 5 years of experience engaging companies and industry bodies to catalyse and drive change and change managemenT.
  • Must have experience in a trade related role or industry, preferably in logistics, shipping, cross border trade compliance, or supply chain.
  • Excellent facilitator and has good collaborative skills, with a proven track record in starting, managing and successfully completing projects involving stakeholders with differing interest.
  • Commercial awareness, entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Relevant experience and working knowledge of more than one trade and trade-related industry or process (e.g. logistics, trade finance, supply chain management, etc) would be an advantage.
