Management of used water network in Singapore is key in safeguarding public health and water resources. Used water is also a water resource. By collecting every drop of used water and ensuring every drop is fit for recycling, NEWater is produced as a sustainable source of supply to meet Singapore’s water demand.  

You will be part of the team responsible for managing this delicate and intrinsically complex network. As an engineer in the development control branch of the Planning and Design Division, you will play a key role in regulating both public and private used water network systems. In the process, you will learn to appreciate the intricacies of the network and partake in an important role towards water sustainability.  Your main roles and responsibilities would include but not limited to:

  • Review development proposals/applications submitted by agencies/qualified persons (Architect/Professional engineer)/contractors for works affecting public sewer to ensure their compliance with the Code of Practice for Sewerage and Sanitary Works and organisational requirements and provide written response to submissions and queries.
  • Assist Engineers in assessing building/structure plans, engineering drawings, method statements, construction impact assessment reports, instrumentation and monitoring plans and Professional Engineer’s reports to ensure adequacy of protection measures for public sewerage infrastructure.
  • Process CCTV report submissions and audit the assessment report by CCTV contractor.
  • Attend consultation meetings with agencies/qualified persons/contractors to provide advice and resolve issues.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent or relevant experience in sewerage system planning works.
  • Independent, result-oriented and self-driven team player with good communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driving licence
