As a Lead Data Scientist, you have an analytical mind and a curiosity for all things data and digital. You will be responsible for providing the direction on the data architecture, systems tools and methodologies to better support and achieve operational business goals and targets. At IRAS, you will have the space to explore rich income and tax data sets in Singapore and drive our digital transformation journey by creating and delivering impactful solutions across the organisation. Employing a human-centric design methodology, you will leverage digital tools and use data intelligently to re-engineer business processes and produce insights for smarter decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and drive the implementation of the architecture, systems, tools and methodologies to support IRAS' data needs in the mid to long-term (i.e extensive research and analysis into emerging and uncharted areas with external experts)
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to identify opportunities and maximize the adoption of analytics/AI in IRAS
  • Drive the delivery of cost-effective, technically sound and robust data analytics solutions
  • Lead the exploration and deployment of emerging analytical/AI techniques
  • Continuously evaluate the relevance of the analytics infrastructure, tools and systems within IRAS and propose forward-looking technical enhancements 
  • Develop a team of AI experts/data scientists in IRAS and raise the overall data competency of staff to translate data into insights

Requirements

  • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Business Analytics or equivalent analytics fields
  • At least 8 years of experience in the advanced analytics field (e.g developing advanced analytics solutions, using big data and machine learning algorithms)
  • At least 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role that spearheads data and analytics initiatives 
  • Highly proficient in 2 or more analytics-related programming languages or tools (e.g. SQL, DAX, SAS, R, Python, Sparks)
  • Deep understanding of big data and data science technologies such as Hadoop, Spark etc and analytics frameworks such as TensorFlow
  • Highly proficient in data engineering, data transformation, data analysis and data visualisation using structured, semi-structured and unstructured data sources
  • Highly proficient in implementing machine learning algorithms and other artificial intelligence/data science domains, such as natural language processing, deep learning and network analytics
