The Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (Muis), also known as the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, was established as a statutory body in 1968 when the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA) came into effect. Under AMLA, Muis is to advise the President of Singapore on all matters relating to Islam in Singapore.

Muis is a statutory board under the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY). It seeks to develop a Muslim community with strong Islamic credentials that thrives in the contemporary world, and is an active partner in nation-building. At Muis, we strive to fulfil the values of compassion and inclusiveness. We design and deliver programmes which are targeted to create a community that is a blessing and inspirational to all.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage contacts and relationships with student bodies and students in the Middle East and Southeast Asian regions
  • Help attend to students' welfare and consular needs in the assigned region
  • Manage the database of students pursuing Islamic Studies and Arabic language in the assigned region
  • Plan, design and administer student development programs in the assigned region and at HQ
  • Provide educational and career guidance, and basic counselling to students
  • Manage and nurture good contacts and network with educational institutions, and relevant government agencies on matters pertaining to student affairs in the assigned region
  • Prepare reports on student matters and current affairs in the assigned region
  • Travel to countries in the assigned region when required

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in any Islamic Sciences or Arabic Language
  • Strong written and spoken proficiency in the Arabic, English and Malay languages as the role requires working with educational institutions in the Middle East and Southeast Asia
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of work experience, preferably in community work
  • Experience in youth work is desirable
  • Willing to be based or posted overseas when required
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Resilient, resourceful and able to work independently and in a team
