Job Description:

The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) is a division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS). At CCRS, our mission is to advance scientific understanding of tropical climate variability and change and its associated weather systems affecting Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region, so that the knowledge and expertise can benefit decision makers and the community. Our vision is to be a world leading centre in tropical climate and weather research focussing on the Southeast Asia region.

To grow a strong climate science ecosystem in Singapore that supports national needs and agenda, a new Climate Science Research Programme Office (CSRPO) has been set up under CCRS to lead and drive efforts to develop and implement a national climate science research masterplan and build up climate science capabilities in Singapore. The CSRPO will commence with an initial five-year research programme, focussed on key priority areas developed in consultation with stakeholder agencies in the Singapore Government Resilience Working Group.

As part of the CSRPO team, the Executive Manager/ Assistant Director (Climate Science Research Programme Office) will work towards the following outcomes:

  • Successful administrative management of CCRS/CSRPO-based research projects
  • Completion of both research and project management deliverables, including project plans and research schedules, competitive intelligence reports, and progress reports
  • Regular engagement of national stakeholders, including research constituents, and study teams, to collect and communicate research requirements, and set expectations for research-related work
  • Facilitate collaborative partnerships across various research constituencies, including project heads, research directors, study teams, investigators and external collaborators

Job Requirement:

  • Five to seven years of direct research experience, as well as demonstrated proficiency in project management, including budgeting, planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting
  • Proactive problem solver with superb planning, coordination, and leadership skills
  • Passion for scientific and technical content with a strong ability to engage and communicate with stakeholders from diverse science areas, and can convey complex information in tangible terms
  • Versatile and creative writing skills with strong ability to communicate detailed technical/ scientific information into easily understood, engaging, influential and informative article/programme to a broad audience 
  • Good team player and ability to work with various stakeholders including subject matter experts and senior management
  • Able to work independently and to tight timelines as/when required
