The Strategic Communications team drives the strategic narrative and content for NYC initiatives. We develop integrated communications strategies to achieve these outcomes – increase mindshare of NYC and its divisions, and engage youths and stakeholders through content that resonates with our target audiences.

As the amplifiers for NYC, we plan and manage the public relations, marketing and digital engagement efforts to effectively communicate NYC’s vision and outcomes to the public.

As Manager/Assistant Manager for Strategic Communications, you will assist the team in strategising, developing and executing a wide range of 360 communication plans and activities to support key publicity and amplification efforts for NYC and its key divisions, Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) and Youth Corps Singapore (YCS). As a member of the Strategic Communications team, you will work with multiple stakeholders and partners to spearhead dynamic communication strategies to amplify key NYC initiatives, inspirational youth stories and youth sector efforts.

To excel in this role, you should be knowledgeable in the current media and youth landscape, and be able to provide counsel to internal stakeholders on suitable communications strategies to assist them in meeting amplification and project objectives, and managing crisis situations from a communications perspective.

  • Background in communication studies, corporate communications, public relations, media relations, marketing communications, or equivalent
  • Good project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Highly motivated individual who is meticulous, resourceful and able to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment

  • Good writing and editing skills for content development, including excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills – a team player with strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in cross-functional teams and network with the media.

Advantageous if you have:

  • Relevant working experience, preferably 4 to 5 years
  • Strong media relations with both mainstream media and online content publishers
  • Experience in handling crisis communications
  • Ability to converse, write and translate in vernacular language (i.e., Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu, Tamil)
