| Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese beginning in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach five courses, both within the Japanese language program and in the candidate’s area of expertise. A Ph.D. in Japanese language and literature or related field is required. ABD candidates near completion of the dissertation will also be considered. Field of specialization is open. The successful candidate will have native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English. Experience in teaching Japanese to English-speaking students at the college level is preferred. Faculty responsibilities include teaching a 3/2 course load over two semesters and informal advising of students, all in person on our campus in Gambier, Ohio. Courses to be taught include introduction to sociology; mid-level subfield survey courses appropriate for sophomores and juniors, and intermediate or upper-level seminars in the candidate’s area of expertise. We seek a chemist who is committed to the education of undergraduates in a liberal arts environment, particularly at the organic and introductory chemistry level. With a five-course load each year across the curriculum, there is also potential to offer an advanced course in their area of expertise. The successful candidate will have some research or teaching experience in experimental organic chemistry and hold a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field. 20th and 21st Century Global Anglophone Visiting Search

| Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of English in twentieth- and twenty-first global Anglophone literature, beginning July 2026. The candidate may focus on one or more specific regions (e.g. the Caribbean, Africa, South Asia) or on transnational networks or orientations (e.g. the Global South, Global Indigenous, the transatlantic, or the transpacific). We particularly encourage applications from candidates who are also practicing creative nonfiction or fiction writers.
The teaching requirement will be 3:2 or 2:3 and will include courses at all levels of our curriculum. Visiting faculty also contribute to departmental life. Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level is required. Ph.D. preferred, but applicants who are ABD will be considered. Qualified applicants will have a strong teaching and research background in American politics and the ability to teach our introductory American course, “Liberal Democracy in America,” and to offer upper-level American politics courses and seminars. Marilyn Yarbrough Dissertation/Teaching Fellowship

| This award is named in honor of the late Marilyn Yarbrough, Kenyon parent and trustee. A legal scholar and university administrator who was a former editor of the Black Law Journal and a member of the Pulitzer Prize Board, Marilyn Yarbrough often addressed gender and racial discrimination in her scholarship and teaching.
In order to encourage such scholars to consider college rather than university teaching, Kenyon College offers the Marilyn Yarbrough Dissertation/Teaching Fellowship. The program is for scholars in the final stages of their doctoral work who need only to finish the dissertation to complete requirements for the Ph.D. We hope the experience of living and working for a year at Kenyon will encourage these fellows to consider a liberal arts college as a place to begin their careers as teachers and scholars.
