About the Role
As a key member of the Disability & Mental Health Senior Leadership team, the Head of Practice Leadership – Active Support Implementation is responsible for driving the operational implementation of the Life Without Barriers’ Advancing Active Support Plan with integrity and fidelity.
This role is central to improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disability who choose LWB as their service provider, by embedding Active Support and Frontline Practice Leadership as core elements of everyday practice. This is a newly created, permanent full time position that can be located anywhere in our service foot print.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive, champion and embed Active Support as core practice across LWB Disability Services.
- Partner with and provide direction to key leaders to implement the Advancing Active Support Plan with fidelity.
- Provide expert guidance on Active Support benefits, requirements, and implementation.
- Support rollout and sustainability of Frontline Practice Leadership.
- Build capability through training, coaching, reflective practice, and resources.
- Contribute to evaluation framework development to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead development of policies, procedures, and evidence-based frameworks.
- Lead internal communities of practice and leadership structures.
- Engage people with disability, families, and networks in planning and evaluation.
- Collaborate with academic partners on research and evaluation.
- Translate research into practice improvements and policy guidance.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, or related human services field.
- Significant leadership in complex, geographically dispersed organisations.
- Deep knowledge of Active Support and Positive Behaviour Support.
- Extensive experience implementing Active Support in disability services.
- Demonstrated knowledge in evidence-informed practice models.
- Experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams and driving quality improvement.
- Effective in building collaborative internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Familiar with evaluation tools and fidelity measures.
