The Physical Education and Recreation Department (PE and Rec) plays a vital role at the University of Oregon in educating, engaging, and inspiring the campus community to live active, balanced lives! Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to support a quality physical education and recreational experience through effective and timely maintenance, repair, improvements, renovation, and cleaning of recreation/PE facilities. Our customers are students, faculty, and staff of the university, campus visitors, and employees of PE and Rec. Working facilities include: Student Recreation Center, Gerlinger Hall, Gerlinger Annex, Student Tennis Center and Outdoor Recreation (fields, courts, running track and open spaces).

This position will be responsible for cleaning offices, lounges, multi-use spaces, restrooms, locker rooms, hallways, and all activity areas. Duties include, but are not limited to, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, polishing, cleaning light fixtures, washing windows, cleaning carpets and upholstered chairs, using auto scrubber on floors, picking up and emptying trash, cleaning toilets, urinals, sinks, drains, mirrors, lockers, and walls. This position will restock dispensers, clean and stock custodial closets, perform minor repair to custodial equipment, and perform annual cleaning including, but not limited to, floor sealing/waxing, stripping or buffing. This position will perform other job-related duties as required by the supervisor, including set up and tear down of rental equipment and may perform limited outdoor facility maintenance such as cleaning steps, windows, and entryways.

Duties will be performed in compliance with departmental, University, state, federal and OSHA regulations, policies and procedures. The person in this position makes decisions on work priorities, necessary supplies and equipment, the means of accomplishing duties, and personal and public safety. The work productivity and protection of self and public are affected by these decisions.

The Coordinator of Facilities reviews the work of this position daily. Review is conducted by visual and written inspection. The purpose of the review is to ensure a clean and safe working area.

Work conditions and physical demands:
• This position is located in a recreation setting where temperatures, lighting, noise, and air quality will vary and some outside work is required.
• This position works with germicidal, sanitizing, and other cleaning products.
• The ability to follow written and oral communication regarding schedules, cleaning duties, and cleaning products is required.
• The position may involve lifting heavy items and will typically include stooping and performing repetitious movements.

Shift times may vary, but typical work schedule for this position is anticipated to be Monday-Friday, 3am-11:30am.

Minimum Requirements

• One year of cleaning experience in commercial, residential or industrial setting.

• Experience with commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Experience with floor care.
• Experience prioritizing work duties and working independently with little to no direct supervision.
• Experience using email as a communication tool.
• Ability and willingness to work special events that may be scheduled overtime on weekdays and weekends.
