About This Role:

The Kansas State College Advising Corps (KSCAC) Hybrid College Adviser will play a critical role in delivering college advising in partnership with Kansas City Scholars, a scholarship program for high-achieving, low-and moderate-income high school students with plans to apply to, matriculate, and graduate from college. This unique partnership connects scholarship recipients to the Hybrid College Advisers who will support the college planning process, including assistance in college and career exploration, applications, and financial aid. Hybrid College Advisers will provide goal-oriented advising with consideration of the KSCAC Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and KC Scholars Benchmarks using GRACE (Getting Results and Creating Equity), the online student tracker tool. The Hybrid College Adviser provides on-site support to students at their schools as well as virtual advising through the effective usage of multiple technology platforms. Hybrid College Advisers may be asked to interact with students and families on a flexible schedule. Additional programming will be offered in the form of virtual workshops, campus tours, and other events and initiatives that build a college-going culture. Hybrid College Advisers will also have expected in-person office hours on a weekly basis for trainings, team meetings, and committee projects to be determined.

CAC is an independent non-profit organization that works to increase the rates of college enrollment and completion among low-income, first-generation college, and underrepresented high school students. CAC supports students nationwide through two innovative program models. The in-school advising model places well-trained, recent graduates from over 30 partner universities as full-time college advisers in high schools across the nation. The hybrid advising model to serve students in both in-person and virtual settings. What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of relevant experience
  • Excellent Organizational skills. To include: scheduling meetings, planning and developing workshops, planning & facilitating campus tours, etc.
  • Excellent computer and writing skills. To include: writing emails, developing and disseminating correspondence, materials, & publications; developing and utilizing a college advising website and/or social mediate site; etc.
  • Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating programs
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, highly collaborative environment
  • Have a strong customer service background
  • Have exceptional listening and communication skills. Be able to listen and respond to needs and concerns. Be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form
  • Have an exceptional, demonstrated record of outreach programming and leadership skills
  • Be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Be able to work in a diverse and changing environment
  • Have initiative and strong interpersonal skills for meeting the needs of a diverse student population and for relating effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and parents
  • Be highly self-motivated, with demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Be able to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with administration, officials, students, schools, universities, school districts, community organizations, and the general public
  • Experience working with low-income, first-generation college and underrepresented students

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
  • Will be required to use personal car to travel to designated High Schools
