About This Role:
|
The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Large Animal Nurse I, II or III. This position is responsible for providing technical nursing services to the Large Animal Barn Section of the KSU-VHC. Primary purpose is to coordinate technical services required for providing quality veterinary care to client, teaching and research patients presented to the Large Animal Barn for treatment. This position is also responsible for monitoring veterinary student entried into the computerized hospital management system and for assuring that stocking service areas has been accomplished. Lastly, this position is responsible for coordination of animal treatments, instruct, train and supervise students and employees in approved treatment technique.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:
- For a Veterinary Nurse I: Completion of a two year college program in veterinary and animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
- For a Veterinary Nurse II: Completion of a two year college program in veterinary and animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and two years of relevant experience.
- For a Veterinary Nurse III: Completion of a two year college program in veterinary and animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and five years of relevant experience as a state credentialed veterinary technician (RVT, LVT, CVT).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of post-graduate experience in a veterinary hospital setting
- One year of post-graduate experience in veterinary equine and large animal procedures
- Clinical teaching and/or supervisory experience will be considered a beneficial asset for this position
- Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with veterinary hospital management programs software such as VetStar
- Must be registered as a licensed veterinary nurse under the authority of the Kansas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiner within six months of appointment
