About This Role:

The Assistant Director for Residence Life and Equity and Inclusion is a live out professional position that serves as part of the student living leadership team. In addition to providing oversight of the day to day operation of residence halls and student programming, the position advises student groups focused on equity and inclusion and serves as part of on-call duty rotation to address crisis situations.

Duties include:

  • Provides operational oversight of 3-7 residence halls to include facilities management and staffing.
  • Supervises 3-5 full time Community Coordinators and in-directly supervises 4-5 graduate level Assistant Community Coordinators/Assistant Coordinators for Departmental Initiatives.
  • Participates in recruitment processes for graduate assistants, Resident Assistants, and hourly student employees.
  • Coordinates with staff to provide programming activities, education, training, advising, and policy review.
  • Monitors budgets and other fiscal related reports related to funding for residence halls and committees.
  • Assists with various student issues including academics, peer conflicts, personal problems. Serves as part of the student living leadership team on-call duty rotation to address crisis situations.
  • Serves as part of the departmental initiatives team to promote the four focus areas of academic success, leadership development, equity and inclusion, and enrollment management including being the primary leader for equity and inclusion initiatives within on-campus living facilities.
  • Provides leadership for programming that complements student and community development particularly in the areas of equity and inclusion.
  • Advises student groups including the Social Justice Alliance.
  • Serves as primary liaison between the department and campus wide equity and inclusion efforts.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in student personnel.
  • Experience in community living, diversity education, leadership development, programming, teaching, or training.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills that address the needs of various constituencies.
  • Ability to collaborate and build networks to achieve and enhance the mission and goals of the position, department and university.
  • A global perspective that values different points of view, cultures and beliefs.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:

$51,000-$53,000 per year plus meal plan during the academic year and summer, excluding recess periods.
