Veterinary Assistant- Dentistry
About This Role
The Veterinary Health Center (VHC) within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team to help facilitate exemplary patient care and quality customer service. This is a position primarily assigned to provide assistance to the Dentistry Service on a daily basis, whether it is to enhance help for a busy receiving or surgery schedule, assist with teaching, or to help with a research project. The assistant will help the dentistry clinicians to receive patients, perform exams, assist during dental procedures, and help maintain the dental suite, to include equipment and instruments. Working hours for this position will include Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Worksite Option
This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- One year of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Veterinary Assistant certification or college study with coursework in animal science or closely related field.
- Ability to handle, restrain, and provide assistance for medical services to senior veterinary students, clinicians, house officers, and veterinary nurses to examine, diagnose, and treat domestic animals including cats, dogs, horses, and other livestock.
- Ability to maintain and use ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment.
- Ability to perform word processing and data entry procedures on a personal computer.
- Be willing and able to master new techniques.
- Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees, professional personnel, and the public.
- Ability to write and interpret written directions.
- Ability to communicate orally with professional and subordinate personnel.
