Job Responsibilities

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is currently accepting applications to establish a pool for adjunct faculty assignments. Adjunct assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed. This job posting is not for a specific assignment or for a full-time faculty position, but rather for a pool of candidates who may be considered for part-time teaching or allied faculty assignments.

Duties may include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Courses are offered during the day and online throughout the academic year (fall, spring, and summer). All adjunct positions are per session appointments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Abiding by and upholding the Citadel’s mission, policies, and core values;

Utilizing effective teaching and learning practices such as presentations, demonstrations, class discussion, and other appropriate modes of instructional delivery;
Preparing course outlines and syllabi in accordance with program standards and in collaboration with the program coordinator;

Completing student assessments required for program completion;

Meeting all scheduled class periods;

Being available to students for individual consultation;

Submitting midterm grades for undergraduate students;

Recording class absences for undergraduate students; and

Submitting final grades by the specified due date.

The Citadel requires faculty to submit midterm grades for undergraduate students.

The Citadel requires faculty to use the Attendance and Class Absence System to document class attendance for undergraduate students.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree is required to teach graduate courses.

Master’s degree is required to teach undergraduate courses.

Three years teaching experience at the elementary, middle grades, secondary, and/or college level

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills

Experience in designing courses and materials
