Entity/Organization:  MUSC Physicians (MUSCP)

Hours per week:  prn basis; as needed only

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift:  days and hours will vary

Pay Basis/FLSA:  Hourly

Job Summary/Purpose:  As a PRN you will travel to all MUSC Ophthomology locations. Performs advanced medical history, checks patient's visual acuity, dilates patient's eyes. Performs basic slit-lamp exam, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, and refractometry. Assists with office surgical procedures. Maintains complete and accurate information in the patient's medical record. Prepares and maintains exam rooms to ensure they are adequately stocked with supplies and that all equipment and instruments are in proper working order. Prepare instruments for sterilization. Screen patient phone calls and questions. Follow Guest Relation Policy: Be polite, attentive and courteous to all patients at all times. Perform other related duties incidental to the work. Must be able to travel to all locations within MUSC.

Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent.  Two years of specialized ophthalmic experience a plus but not required. 

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:  BLS required.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities: 

Physical Requirements:  Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.  Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.  Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs.  Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
