Job Summary/Purpose:

The Oncology Clinical Pharmacist will support both the clinical and operational workflows essential for ensuring MUSC Health – Florence patients have access to Oncology specialty pharmacy medications. The pharmacist will work in the ambulatory setting in Oncology in collaboration with medical providers, pharmacists, and nursing staff to ensure safe and accurate distribution of oral chemotherapy medications. The pharmacist will be responsible for completing initial clinical assessments for patients, submitting appeals for third party payors, conducting clinical reassessments, and providing oversight of pharmacy technicians. Pharmacists will be trained on using Epic (both ambulatory and retail modules) as well as Tableau dashboards to complete documentation of their activities and to ensure accreditation metrics are at or above target.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the Oncology arena working collaboratively with other members of the care team, providing patient education, navigating the complexities of insurance coverage, and contributing to the overall growth and operations of the specialty pharmacy program. This position reports to the Clinical Coordinator for the Specialty Pharmacy Program and ultimately to the Chief Pharmacy Officer for MUSC Health – Charleston.

Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
