Job Summary/Purpose: The Denials Specialist reports to Unit Coordinator. Under general supervision, the Denials Specialist provides detailed follow- up, tracking and collections for previously denied or underpaid hospital claims.  

Minimum Training and Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and two years of clerical accounting experience required.  A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience.   AR analysis and denial experience preferred.  Knowledge of managed care contracts and other claim payment methodologies. Ability to create and interpret Word and Excel documents.  Strong communication skills with the ability to accept assignments and work independently.  Must be familiar with multiple payer requirements for claims processing.
