MUSC Health is hosting a Patient Care Tech (PCT) Interview Blitz for Fall November 2021.  All interested candidates must complete this online application no later than Thursday, October 28, 2021.  Please also attach your current BLS if you have one.  

If selected for an interview, you will be contacted by a department representative to schedule a Microsoft Teams or phone interview between November 4, 2021 - November 6, 2021.  Please be prepared for a half-hour interview with a member of the nursing team between those dates.  We have various service areas participating in this Interview Blitz.

We anticipate extending conditional offers to successful candidates on the spot.  Successful candidates must provide confirmation of acceptance within 1 business day of conditional offer.  All selected candidates will automatically be enrolled in our New Hire Orientation.

Job Summary/Purpose: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or GED required with a minimum of one year of patient care work experience in a health care facility, at the time of hire. Certified Nursing Assistant. High school diploma or GED is required and required enrollment in a healthcare-related program within two years of hire. High school diploma or GED required and a current MUHA Care Team Member. Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution or equivalent training. EMT or Paramedic certification. A nursing student enrolled in an accredited institution with the completion of a nursing fundamentals course. Bachelor’s degree.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
