Job Summary/Purpose: Performs paraprofessional accounting duties including processing financial transactions, posting and updating records and analyzing non-covered patient accounts to determine funding eligibility; insures that all state, federal and MUSC policies and procedures are followed. 

Minimum Training and Education: High School diploma and 3 yrs. related experience, Associate degree and 2 yrs. experience in banking, accounts receivable, insurance industry, customer service representative or hospital registration, financial counseling or patient accounting, or a four (4) year college degree and six months experience preferred. Requires experience with computers. Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations. Working knowledge of third party payor procedure. Excellent communication skills required, must be able to communicate effectively with patients/families, physicians, employee, or payors.
