The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will provide high level, strategic leadership across the organisation, working collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the TasTAFE Board and the TasTAFE Senior Leadership Team to drive a culture and brand that is consistent with community expectations of a high performing, student-centric, industry responsive Tasmanian public training provider.
In partnership with the CEO, the COO will develop and maintain TasTAFE’s internal governance structure, lead policy processes, and drive organisational planning and delivery, developing and reporting on the strategic and annual corporate plans, ensuring they are aligned with the requirements of the TasTAFE Board and the Minister, and that TasTAFE meets all legislative requirements.
The COO will collaboratively work with the CEO, the TasTAFE Board and Executive to develop TasTAFE’s strategy, taking specific responsibility for creating and implementing and reporting on the asset, digital and workforce strategies.
The COO will be responsible for developing and delivering TasTAFE’s annual budget and forward forecasts, for reporting on the budget position, and for ensuring TasTAFE’s governance controls and risk management strategies are in place.
The COO will take a leading role in the development of TasTAFE’s risk approach, including contributing to the TasTAFE Board’s Audit and Risk Management Committee and Chairing TasTAFE’s internal risk and compliance committee.
The COO will provide high level leadership to TasTAFE’s educational delivery areas and direct oversight of TasTAFE’s corporate services.
The COO will deputise for the TasTAFE CEO.
