The Department of Health, Tasmanian Health Services, seeks to appoint Assistant Nurse Unit Manager's to a new Team delivering a twelve (12) bed Mental Health Hospital InThe Home (MHHITH) Service. The Assistant Nurse Unit Manager assists the Nurse Manger to coordinate the shift, provided clinical leadership to other staff and will be responsible for the assessment, treatment and care provided to consumers of service in the delivery of intensive home based care following principles of person centred, recovery orientated and trauma informed practice.
The new Team will include Medical, Nursing, Allied Health, Peer Workers and administrative support.
The Team will be a virtual ward of the Royal Hobart Hospital with direct links to the Department of Psychiatry, Emergency Department and Adult Community Mental Health Teams and as such is part of Statewide Mental Health Services – South.
The Service will operate seven days a week.

The ANUM is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:
- Works in partnership with the Nurse Manager (NM) – MHHITH and other senior staff,
to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles
within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
- Assists the NM with the planning and management of staff and resources and provides
operational leadership through the coordination of the day to day patient care activities,
including patient flow.
- Coordinates and provides intensive home based care to all consumers of the service,
which includes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, active, therapeutic
engagement, monitoring and review of mental state and response to treatments, ongoing
psychotherapeutic work using arrange of modalities and techniques, within a MultiDisciplinary
- Participate in the development and revision of organisational documentation and policies
and procedures relating to nursing based best practice and the model care.
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
