Job description:

Assist the North Surgical Nurse Unit Managers in ensuring a safe and secure environment within surgical wards. Assist in maintaining a secure working environment by supporting nursing staff i n managing patients with behaviours of concern, delirium, high falls risk, self-harm or cognitive decline. Respond to aggressive incidents under the direction of the clinical team. Provide manual handling assistance with patient care requirements, when and as directed. Assist the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and Nursing team management in the maintenance and management of surgical ward equipment.

The role:

The Area:

  • Ward 5B is a 32-bed surgical ward where we care for a range of surgical patients undergoing Orthopaedic, Plastic & Reconstructive, Gynaecological, General, Breast, and Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery.
  • The staff on 5B believe in a multidisciplinary team approach to health care that places the needs of our patients and their families/carers first through communication and collaboration to facilitate a safe discharge from hospital.
  • We provide a supportive environment for learners and place a heavy focus on teamwork to assist in facilitating the needs of our busy surgical ward.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, part time, shift-worker position working 56 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 25 January 2025.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $65,236 - $68,925 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
