Job description:

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services, the Community Mental health Nurse provides a specialist mental health service within the community setting for a designated client group, utilising evidence-based practices and recovery principles.

Please note this position is also being advertised as a Allied Health Professional (515897) position and only one position will be filled on merit. Please note this position is eligible for a Multi Disciplinary Allowance.

The Team:

The Older Persons Mental Health team is a community-based service based in Burnie, Tasmania . The service is a multidisciplinary team that provide community based and outreach mental health services to those requiring mental health support. We work collaboratively with the person, their family as well as informal and formal supports within their lives to ensure the person is living the best life they can.

The Role:

The Community Mental Health Nurse:

  • Consistent with ongoing experience strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals and community sector organisations within the defined community practice area. 
  • As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services provides a specialist mental health service within the community setting for a designated client group, utilising evidence-based practices and recovery principles.

You will need 

Nursing Care

  • In collaboration with members of the healthcare team plan, implement and evaluates patient/client care.
  • Acts as a Mental Health Officer when required.
  • Involve patients/clients and their families/significant others in the planning and implementation of care.

Team Work

  • Interact effectively with patients’/clients’ families and other health team members to facilitate the provision of optimum patient/client care.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a strong team approach through open communication and a positive supportive approach.
  • Actively contribute to the communication process, including attending and participating in team meetings.

Excellence in Practice

  • Active involvement in maintaining and continually improving the quality of patient/client care. This may include participation in research and evidence-based practice.
  • Contribute to the review and development of innovative procedures, policies and best practice related to patient/client care.
  • Participate in the development and revision of documentation relating to nursing based best practice in the defined practice area.

Details of appointment: Registered Nurse, Grade 3-4

Multiple Permanent full time and part time, day worker positions available, working up to 32 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Current Driver’s Licence
