Job description:

Administrative Assistants at the Department of Health Tasmania are integral members of multidisciplinary teams working across various health service locations, including hospitals, community health centres, and aged care assessment units.

Administrative Assistants at the Department of Health Tasmania are integral members of multidisciplinary teams working across various health service locations, including hospitals, community health centres, and aged care assessment units.

The team operates in a collaborative and client-focused environment, supporting the delivery of essential health services. Administrative Assistants contribute by:

  • Managing reception and clerical duties
  • Coordinating appointments and meetings
  • Handling confidential client information
  • Supporting communication between staff, patients, and external providers

The Role:

In accordance with Agency policies, procedures, and guidelines, the Administrative Assistant will provide a high level of administrative and clerical support to staff and clients to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services within Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS).

You will need to:

  • Undertake general administrative and clerical support including distribution of incoming and outgoing mail (hardcopy & electronic); photocopying; collating and distributing documents and correspondence; filing; faxing; and scanning of documents; and maintaining electronic records, documents, databases, scheduling and information systems for the efficient operation of the Service.
  • Provide an efficient and effective receptionist service to support and maintain the efficient flow of information to and from CHaPS.
  • Monitor and replenish stationery supplies and IT consumables and purchase other ad hoc items as required.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 27 February 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $66,049 to $70,993 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
