Job description:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) are seeking an Allied Health Professional or Clinical Nurse Specialists to join our new Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tasmania service. This role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver secondary level mental health assessment and interventions for infants, children, and their families and caregivers, experiencing emerging complexity regarding emotional, social, relational, and behavioural functioning.

Please note this position is also being advertised as a Clinical Nurse Specialist - Head to Health Kids CAMHS (528808d) and only one position will be filled on merit.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) are seeking an Allied Health Professional or Clinical Nurse Specialists to join our new Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tasmania service.

This role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver secondary level mental health assessment and interventions for infants, children, and their families and caregivers, experiencing emerging complexity regarding emotional, social, relational, and behavioural functioning.

As part of the Head to Health Kids team, the role will:

  • Support the establishment of the North West Head to Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tasmania service.
  • Undertake assessments, care planning and delivery of individual and group secondary level mental health interventions to children and families, including culturally appropriate services.
  • Develop and support collaborative care partnerships with service providers including across primary health, child health and parenting, paediatrics, child safety, education, and early childhood programs and services.
  • Collect and review client and service outcome data and participate in activities to improve client outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuing quality and safety, service development and improvement, and professional development processes and standards.

Duties:

  1. Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive clinical service through the provision of assessment, case management and individual therapies, including specialised therapies for clients and their families or carers.
  2. Develop, monitor and evaluate clinical outcome measures, manage complex clinical issues and make recommendations on matters relating to the areas of clinical specialty.
  3. Participate in the multi-disciplinary team review of current clients, including supporting staff in the development, monitoring and evaluation of clinical outcome measures.
  4. Establish effective, collaborative and professional relationships with clients, the health care team, and other stakeholders to optimise outcomes for patients and their families.
  5. Maintain clinical documentation ensuring appropriate records of assessments, interventions and specialised reports, and maintain NOCC and Occasions of Service data

About Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tasmania:

Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tas is an integrated secondary level mental health service for emerging complexity for the 0–12-year age group and represents an important addition to a child and family mental health stepped care model in Tasmania.

This early intervention service enables families to access a range of evidence based individual and group interventions and supports for mild to moderate emotional, behavioural, social, relational, and developmental challenges.

The Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub Tas service works with families, and universal, secondary, and tertiary service providers, to provide integrated and holistic care. The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is a key co-service partner.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026.

Salary: Allied Health professional Level 3

$110,425 - $119,290 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances:

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in an area relevant to the role
  • Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification relevant to the role
  • Current Driver’s Licence
