Job description:

The Administrative Officer provides high-level administrative support to the Environmental Services management team and assist in the efficient and effective operation of the Environmental Services Department including supporting the administration and processing of, payroll, human resource, financial and administrative information for the area.

The Team:

In the role of Administrative Officer, the team provides high‑quality administrative and operational support, ensuring accurate records management, timely coordination of information, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The team is committed to professionalism, confidentiality, and continuous improvement, contributing to smooth day‑to‑day operations and supporting the department’s broader objectives in delivering responsive and reliable health services for the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

The Environmental Services unit of the Department of Health (DoH) is responsible for the provision of cleaning, waste management and linen services to all Southern Region Health Facilities.

The Administrative Officer provides high-level administrative support to the Environmental Services management team and assist in the efficient and effective operation of the Environmental Services Department including supporting the administration and processing of, payroll, human resource, financial and administrative information for the area.

You will need to:

  • Provide high level administrative support functions that contribute to the efficient and effective administrative service to the Environmental Services management team including ensuring that the operations of the Department are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner.
  • Create and maintain the integrity of data bases and spreadsheets including inputting and retrieving data as required for administrative or quality improvement purposes, such as:
    • preparing and processing monthly accounts for revenue generation/ expense recovery
    • Filing and compilation of information and evidence for accreditation
    • Raising reports and reconciliation for: linen, waste management and cleaning data and payroll related matters.
    • Preparing stock requisitions.
  • Coordinate and process staff time sheets and leave applications for the area, ensuring accuracy prior to submitting to the Operations Manager – Hospital Support Services for approval.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, daily shift of 7.6 hours commencing ASAP

hours of work can be negotiated between the hours of 7am and 5pm weekdays.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
