
The Team
The Health Information Team plays a central role in managing the lifecycle of health data across Tasmania’s public health system. From data collection and storage to analysis and reporting, the team ensures that accurate, timely, and high-quality information supports both the health of Tasmanians and the performance of health services.
Health data is a critical enabler of system-wide planning, funding, and reform. The work of the Health Information Team underpins key departmental functions, including service agreement monitoring, national reporting obligations, and strategic decision-making.
The Role
The Database Support Administrator works within the Health Information Team to provide support services regarding information contained on databases managed by the Unit. The role supports the Department of Health in fulfilling its reporting obligations to external bodies, senior management and operational areas, facilitating informed decisions based on sound and robust data collected.
You will need
- Knowledge of, and experience in, the use of computerised information systems/databases, including the development and production of statistical reports, together with proven skills and experience in using Word and Excel and the ability to learn other computer software packages.
- Demonstrated coordination and organisational skills whilst undertaking and handling multiple tasks on a day-to-day basis, together with the ability to exercise initiative, judgement and discretion.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate and liaise with a wide range of internal and external clients and stakeholders.

Details of appointment
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$76,849 to $82,996 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
