
The Team
The Strategic Purchasing and Funding unit manages and undertakes a lead role in the purchasing of services that drive high quality, value for money outcomes for Tasmanians, and monitors the delivery of those services by providers to ensure outcomes are achieved.
The Role
- Develop, maintain, implement and evaluate a Tasmanian healthcare funding model that reflects strategic government priorities, as expressed in the annual Statement of Purchaser Intent (SoPI) and other government strategies, and encourages high quality, value for money outcomes. This also includes monitoring the delivery of annual service agreements between the Minister and the Department of Health (including Hospitals South, North and North West).
- Develop, implement and annually evaluate a performance framework that enables the effective monitoring and assessment of relevant areas performances against the requirements of the service agreement, between the Minister and the Department of Health (including Hospitals South, North and North West) that reflect strategic government priorities for the Tasmanian health system and encourage high quality, value for money outcomes.
- Provide the Agency with a clear delineation of roles, responsibilities and expectations in response to identified performance issues and hold the Agency to account for performance in order to deliver high quality, value for money outcomes.
You will need
- Experience in, or ability to acquire specific knowledge of, the health and human services government relations and policy environment.
- Demonstrated experience in developing complex written documentation, reports and service agreements.
- Advanced critical thinking, research and analytical skills, including the ability to gather relevant information, draw appropriate conclusions and make recommendations.

Details of appointment
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible up to 30 June 2027.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$111,754 to $126,579 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
