Job description:

Lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality acute community mental health services across Southern Tasmania.

Please note this position is also being advertised as Nursing Director - Acute Care Stream Community Mental Health Services (525617) and only one position will be filled on merit. Please note this position is eligible for a Multi Disciplinary Allowance.

The Team

The Acute Care Stream includes acute mental health services in the South that provide hospital level care in the home environment, community ambulatory acute care services, GP Liaison, and mental health triage. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role

Lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality acute community mental health services across Southern Tasmania. As Manager of the Acute Care Stream Community Mental Health Service, you will provide strategic leadership, oversee service delivery, manage human, financial and physical resources, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with consumers, carers, community partners and healthcare professionals, you will play a key role in shaping responsive, recovery-focused mental health services that support positive outcomes for the Tasmanian community.

You will need

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and support multidisciplinary teams in a complex service environment.
  • Strong skills in service planning, resource management and operational leadership.
  • Experience building productive relationships with stakeholders, community organisations and healthcare partners.
  • The ability to lead change, drive innovation and support service improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes.
  • A commitment to delivering safe, person-centred and recovery-focused mental health services.

Details of appointment

Fixed term, full time, day worker (with on call) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2027. 

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$148,502 to $150,478 per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2025 

Salary Packaging

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances

The following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1200 per annum, paid on a fortnightly, pro rata basis.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in Mental Health
  • Current Driver’s Licence
