The Team
The Acute Care Stream includes acute mental health services in the South that provide hospital level care in the home environment, community ambulatory acute care services, GP Liaison, and mental health triage. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role
An exciting leadership opportunity exists to join the Acute Care Stream Community Mental Health Service as a Nursing Director. In this influential role, you will lead a large multidisciplinary team delivering specialist community mental health services across Southern Tasmania.
Working in a dynamic and evolving environment, you will provide strategic direction, oversee service delivery, drive quality improvement initiatives, and support the ongoing development of innovative, recovery-focused models of care.
You will also play a key role in building strong partnerships with consumers, carers, community organisations and healthcare providers to ensure safe, contemporary and responsive mental health services.
You will need
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, guide and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience managing complex services, resources and operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective partnerships across the health and community sectors.
- The ability to lead service improvement, innovation and change initiatives that enhance consumer outcomes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and drive positive outcomes.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred and recovery-focused mental health services.

Details of appointment
Fixed term, full time, day worker (with on call) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2027.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$148,470 per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
