Job description:

In partnership with TasTAFE, MEGT and Microsoft, the Tasmanian State Service (TSS) through the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Digital Strategy and Services (DSS), Department of the Premier and Cabinet, has opportunities available for you to take the first step in your cyber security career. The successful candidate will be hosted in full time employment by DSS for the 24-month traineeship duration, undertaking a Certificate IV in Cyber Security (22234VIC) and undertaking rotating placements across TSS Agency cyber security teams. Not only will you gain a certificate and practical work experience, you will also receive professional mentoring as you embark upon a career that allows you to develop the necessary skills to become a fully qualified Cyber Security Service Support Officer.

Period of Appointment

Two Years

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 hours - flexible options available. 

Duties

Tasks you may undertake throughout the traineeship include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and block malicious behaviour and activities
  • Vulnerability assessments and management
  • Identify threats to the organization
  • Update documentation for policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
  • Incident management
  • Research and evaluate applications and services for use by the agency
  • Compliance reviews
  • Troubleshoot platform and customer integration issues
  • Security awareness

  • Working rights in Australia- or can we write Australian PR or New Zealand citizenship
  • Must be willing and capable of 'passing' the Tasmanian Registration for Working with Vulnerable People
  • Must be willing and capable of 'passing' a National Police Clearance

Desirable Requirements

  • ICT qualifications or industry experience at an equivalent Certificate III level would be an advantage.
