Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- Write, edit and approve content for a range of internal and external purposes and audiences – including online content, speeches, media, releases and publications. Ensuring these meet the needs of the audiences and comply with relevant Departmental and Government policies, standards and guidelines.
- Coordinate the Department’s media liaison activities, particularly by preparing media releases, researching and developing responses to media enquiries and guiding internal and external media projects through agreed approval processes. Liaise with the Government Communications Office, Ministers’ Office and Ministers’ Media Advisers, to ensure a coordinated approach to media issues.
- Provide a full suite of high quality visual communication services to the Department including graphic design, photography and multimedia services.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to support the Department’s operations, and review the effectiveness of these.
- Provide expert advice to Departmental outputs in regard to communication strategies and plans as well as procurement processes relating to communications activities.
- Establish collaborative partnerships and effective relationships across government agencies and with key stakeholders, including local and national media representatives.
- Provide quality control of the agency’s external communications, including campaign and promotional material, print and online publications, websites and multimedia content.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of Agency policies, procedures and guidelines relating to communications, and monitor compliance with Agency and Whole of Government requirements.
- Deliver expert and timely advice to ensure the Department complies with both the Tasmanian Government Communications Policy and the Tasmanian Government Style Guide and Logo Policy.
- Research, analyse and report on emerging trends and issues in communications that will impact on the management and operation of the Agency.
- As required from time to time, perform other tasks relevant to the skills and experience of the position classification.
Desirable Requirements
- A tertiary qualification or professional background in journalism, communications, graphic design or marketing.
- Experience in the use of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of programs.
