Job description:
Join the Inland Fisheries Service (IFS) team and make meaningful impacts on recreational fishery through policy and operational plan development.

About the role
As Manager, Recreational Fisheries at Inland Fisheries Service (IFS), you’ll provide management, operational support, and specialist advice on the management of Tasmania’s inland recreational fishery.
- Manage the human, physical, and financial resources of the Recreational Fisheries team.
- Liaise with members of the public, community groups, recreational anglers, angling clubs, water managers, and government agencies.
- Develop and publish public communication materials related to the management of recreational fisheries.
- Manage fisheries related assets and infrastructure.
Permanent position based in Hobart or New Norfolk (to be negotiated).

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Pre Employment Checks
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
- The following checks are to be conducted:
a. crimes of violence
b. sex related offences
c. serious drug offences
d. crimes involving dishonesty
e. serious traffic offences
f. fisheries offences
- Registration to “Work with Vulnerable People” as required under the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013.
Essential requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification in fisheries management or significant policy and/or project experience in recreational fisheries management and in the management of physical assets and infrastructure.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
Desirable requirements
- Australian Maritime Safety Authority Certificate of Competency Coxswain Grade 2.
- A workplace Level 2 First aid certificate or the ability to acquire one prior to appointment.
