Period of Appointment
ASAP for 2 years.
Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- Lead examination activities to places where children and young people are deprived of their liberty, employing project management and investigation methodologies to ensure strategic oversight and successful outcomes.
- Prepare high-level and evidence-based advice, support, and guidance to relevant authorities, ensuring alignment with the Tasmanian NPM's published expectations and driving strategic initiatives to enhance organisational compliance and performance.
- Support advisory efforts directed at relevant authorities and conduct activities, including meetings, to educate and raise awareness about the Tasmanian NPM's expectations on the treatment of children and young people deprived of their liberty.
- Oversee and drive follow-up on practice improvement activities across organisations, preparing high-level, authoritative advice for the relevant authority or their delegate.
- Support the broader team within the Office, addressing complex queries and delivering timely, expert guidance to organisations on matters concerning the prevention of torture and ill-treatment.
- Undertake additional duties as required, which are within the capacity, qualifications, and experience normally expected of individuals in positions at this classification level.
Essential Requirements
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment).

- Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
