Job description:

The position contributes to the achievement of organisational and Government objectives by providing strategic, policy and program support for Justice Support Services. The role is responsible for the provision of strategic leadership, specialist advice, direction and overall management of a range of complex State and National projects.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Lead and manage the team and the development of complex strategy, program and policy development and implementation activities for the output including government and departmental priorities and relevant state and national initiatives.
  • Drive improvement and change programs that deliver outcomes of strategic importance for the output.
  • Lead high level consultation, communication, awareness and education programs and engagement with relevant stakeholders, other jurisdictions and agencies in collaboration with the broader output leadership team.
  • Lead, plan and manage the delivery of multiple projects and initiatives, and support staff to ensure milestones are achieved and outcomes delivered on time and within resource constraints.
  • Build and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders including other State and National Government agencies, the Courts, TasCAT, independent statutory bodies, relevant peak bodies, service providers and advocacy groups.
  • Ensure that effective governance is in place to enable the achievement of project goals and objectives and ensure compliance with relevant Government and Department strategies, policies, practices, procedures, codes of conduct and probity requirements.
  • Provide high level strategic advice including written reports and correspondence such as external communications, submissions, briefings, correspondence and reports for key stakeholders including relevant Ministers, Heads of Agencies, the Executive Director and the broader output.
  • Represent the Department in State and National forums relating to areas across the Output of Justice Support Services, either independently, or in collaboration with, the broader output, as required.
  • Manage assigned financial, information, human and physical resources and ensure that defined standards and agreed objectives are met, in a way that prioritises the safety, wellbeing, accountability and capability of the workforce.
  • Actively participate as part of the Output’s leadership team
  • Undertake other duties that are within the capacity, qualifications and expectations normally expected of this classification.

Desirable Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.

Pre-employment (National Police Record) checks for: Arson and fire setting, violent crimes and crimes against the person, sex-related offences, drug and alcohol related offences, crimes involving dishonesty, deception and/or conspiracy, making false declarations, malicious damage and destruction to property, serious traffic offences, crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice, Executive or the Legislative Power.
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment.
  3. Identification check.
