About the Waste & Resource Recovery Board
The Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board (the Board) plays a key role in reinvesting the landfill levy and is dedicated to driving impactful investment, ensuring Tasmania continues to advance towards a more sustainable resource recovery system, reducing waste to landfill and keeping valuable resources in use for as long as possible.
The Board is focussed on targeted resource recovery initiatives, robust data collection and analysis to inform future decision-making and delivering results that shape the future of waste and resource recovery in the state.
Since its establishment under the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022 (the Act) in July 2022, the Board has laid the groundwork for meaningful change. With significant investments already made in core infrastructure, community capacity-building and strategic partnerships.
