Job description:

The Education and Engagement Officer - Training contributes to the delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of the Integrity Commission’s education and engagement program. Working as part of the Education and Engagement team, the role is responsible for face-to-face and online learning activities that build ethical capability across Tasmania’s public sector. The position coordinates and administers education and engagement activities, including workshops, webinars, conferences, forums, and other stakeholder engagement initiatives. The role supports the development and maintenance of educational resources and provides operational assistance across a range of team functions. The role works collaboratively across the Commission and with external stakeholders to ensure education and engagement services are delivered professionally, efficiently, and in alignment with organisational priorities.

The Person

The occupant of this position will be a capable facilitator and highly organised professional with a passion for learning, engagement, and public sector integrity.

They will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to build positive relationships and engage effectively with stakeholders in both face-to-face and virtual environments. They will demonstrate initiative, sound judgment and adaptability, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute positively within a collaborative team environment.

The occupant will be committed to delivering high-quality educational and engagement services and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Commission’s programs.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight

Duties

  1. Deliver face-to-face and online education, training, and engagement activities that support the Commission’s objective to build ethical capability across the Tasmanian public sector.
  2. Contribute to the design, review, and continuous improvement of education and engagement programs, resources and learning materials.
  3. Build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships that support the delivery and promotion of the Commission’s education and engagement activities and objectives.
  4. Coordinate the planning and delivery of workshops, webinars, and other education and engagement initiatives.
  5. Maintain education and engagement systems, records, and reporting processes, including participant communications, evaluation activities, and learning platforms.
  6. Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing materials and other documentation to support program delivery and organisational objectives.
  7. Provide operational and administrative support for related Education and Engagement Unit activities, including projects, and business improvement initiatives.
  8. Undertake other duties relevant to the Education and Engagement Unit as required by the Manager, Education and Engagement and the Director, Education and Engagement.

Level of Responsibility and Direction

The occupant of this position will:

  • Operate with limited direction and guidance from the Manager, Education and Engagement and exercise autonomy in delivering education and engagement objectives.
  • Exercise initiative, judgement, and a degree of independence in undertaking allocated work.
  • Ensure work is completed accurately, professionally, and within agreed timeframes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of education, engagement, and administrative processes.
  • Work collaboratively with Commission staff and external stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes.

Essential Requirements

The Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy pre-employment checks before taking up the appointment, promotion, or transfer.

The successful appointee must satisfy:

  • Conviction check – National Police Check no older than 3 months is required.
  • A pre-employment check about any disciplinary or managerial action in any previous employment.
  • Identification check.

Desirable Requirements

A degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline with subsequent workplace experience and/or previous experience in a government, or other adult educational role, would be advantageous.
