The Coordinator for Programs in the Center for Student Activities is responsible for the coordination of Mississippi State University pageants and all student organizations management, training, and leadership develop programs, advising of Involvement Ambassadors, assisting in the marketing and programming of Dawg Days events, and managing assessment initiatives in the Center for Student Activities.

Salary Grade:  13

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate all student organization management systems, including Cowbell Connect database, “Corq” and “Check-in” student organization apps, New Student Organization Committee, training and leadership programs, organization fairs, and student organization manual.

2. Coordinate the planning and implementation of pageants including the Miss Maroon & White Pageant and the Miss Mississippi State University Scholarship Competition (preliminary to the Miss Mississippi Scholarship Competition).

3. Advise the Involvement Ambassador program including membership selection, training, and events.

4. Assist in the implementation of welcome week activities and Orientation fairs including event
planning, marketing, advising student organizations.

5. Assist in the supporting functions of the day to day traffic in the Center for Student Activities.

6. Conduct surveys to determine student needs and interests and assess learning outcomes of programs presented by Center for Student Activities.

7. Attend all Center for Student Activities-sponsored programs and meetings.

8. Travel with student delegates to workshops and programs sponsored by professional associations and/or other institutions.

9. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Minimum of one year's leadership experience in a student organization.
2. Experience in student programming or student activities, preferably in a higher education setting.
3. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree, preferably in student development, higher education, or a related discipline.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
• Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.
• Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
• Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronic.
• Some nights and weekends are required.
