The Instructor I, II, or III position is under the administrative supervision of the Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering (ASE). This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, 9-month faculty position. An instructor in ASE is an engineer and a scholar with a strong interest in teaching, supervising undergraduate students working in the ASE labs, and providing service to ASE. Responsibilities during the fall and spring semesters include service and teaching and coordinating the delivery of the undergraduate engineering mechanics and aerospace courses (primarily laboratory courses). Teaching and service duties may also be available for extra compensation during summer school.

Promote the development of the archaeological profession locally and nationally by reviewing books and articles for professional journals, serving on professional society committees and boards, and serving as consultant for local and national groups and agencies as the need or occasion arises. Teach undergraduate survey courses. Teach site survey (site discovery, delineation, evaluation) field school for undergraduates and graduate students with leveling needs. Teach excavation field school as necessary. Teach advanced undergraduate students in upper-level topical or area courses. Teach graduate courses in area of specialty, including seminars, special topics, and directed readings. Serve on graduate committees for M.A. students. Direct graduate M.A. theses. Serve on departmental, college, and university committees. For tenure-track but non-tenured persons, expectations in this category are limited. Seek external funding via grants or contracts.
