The program is directly supported by 2 diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2 diplomates of the American College of Theriogenologists, 1 diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Food Animal), 2 clinical faculty professors, 2 clinical instructors, and 4 support staff. The food animal in house clinic annual case load is 1,200-1,500 cases/year (beef 60%, dairy 30%, small ruminants 10%), and ambulatory makes 1000 trips/year (40% equine, 40% beef cow/calf and 20% dairy/small ruminants).

Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM) has received a transformative gift to establish the Nancy Link Laminitis Research Center. This gift will fund the construction of a new research building and the creation of three new faculty positions, along with new staff and graduate student positions. We seek to assemble an outstanding team of faculty to seize this opportunity and conduct research on laminitis, a painful and crippling disease of horses. The new team will consist of one faculty member at the professor level, one at the associate professor level, and one at the assistant professor level. The new 14,000-square-foot facility will offer both clinical and benchtop research space, as well as the equipment needed for advanced research. Graduate student stipends will be available to each faculty member, and a substantial amount of funding will be available to the team annually for research on the prevention and treatment of laminitis in pleasure or working horses.
