Successful candidates will be expected to develop nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research programs in areas including, but not limited to: development of design methodologies to improve performance of various materials including steel alloys, aluminum alloys, copper alloys, etc. through theoretical and experimental study to provide a fundamental understanding of roles of alloying elements, manufacturing processes, materials structures, and mechanical properties to the performance of those materials of interest. The position holder must have the ability to work independently, publish in archival journals, write research proposals, and present in a public forum.
