The Mississippi Water Resources Research Institute invite applicants to a 12-month, Assistant Extension Professor faculty position in the area of water science and management. We are specifically looking for candidates with expertise in drinking water and wastewater management (public or private), public health engineering, and watershed science/management. Candidates with strengths in research and communication are preferred. Applicants should be able to articulate a prospective research program that has promise for sustainable external funding and regional/national recognition. The faculty member will be administratively responsible to the Mississippi Water Resources Research Institute with a joint appointment in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department or Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. The faculty member will work in concert with faculty and staff from their home department at Mississippi State University and other departments across campus as well as other institutions.
Campus Transit Bus Operator (Intermittent/Rehired Retiree)	730100 - Transportation	Main Campus - Starkville, MS
To drive a campus transit bus to transport passengers around Starkville/MSU area. These appointments are on a part-time and varying scheduled basis. For Intermittent Workers, hours worked will not to exceed 720 hours worked between July 1 - June 30 of a fiscal year. If applying as a rehired retiree of the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS), employees are limited in earnings each fiscal year based on PERS Regulation 34.
Postdoctoral Associate	191001 - Northern Gulf Institute	Main Campus - Starkville, MS
The postdoctoral research associate will contribute to an ONR sponsored research project that examines air-sea-wave processes that relate to momentum flux variability in the tropical cyclone environment. The successful candidate will conduct and analyze numerical sensitivity modeling experiments utilizing the Navy’s coupled tropical cyclone modeling system and other coupled modeling systems to verify against field observations to identify momentum exchange processes that influence tropical cyclone intensity change. The postdoc will be based at the Northern Gulf Institute at Mississippi State’s campus and have access to MSU High Performance Computing Collaboratory supercomputing servers to conduct experiments. Funding is available for 18 months with opportunity for extension. Funds for conference travel are included. Anticipated start date of June 1, 2025 with some flexibility.
