Position Summary:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monday - Friday schedule (7:00am-3:00pm)
  • Answering and responding to work requests as assigned
  • Answering questions and resolving problems related to locksmithing
  • Training apprentices or assigned technicians
  • Meeting and negotiating with sales representatives for procurement of parts, materials, supplies; obtaining approval Director or Maintenance Manager
  • Ordering parts and supplies as needed for department and projects
  • Maintaining equipment and tools required to perform the work
  • Performing related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school education plus one year of additional business, technical, or college training or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Requires four to six years of job related experience
  • Licensed or trade certificates preferred
  • Ability to supervise, direct and train the work of apprentices
  • Experience with Windows office (Word, Outlook, SharePoint), along with key management software
  • Ability to maintain Commercial and Residential hardware
  • Knowledge and ability of lock re-keying and re-pining of lock cores
  • Knowledge and experience with manual and machine key cutting techniques
  • Ability to work on crash bars and door closures
  • Knowledge of access controls and key card locks
  • Knowledge of tools, techniques, and procedures of locksmithing
  • Knowledge of fire door systems and its hardware, or ability to learn if training were provided
  • Knowledge of local city ordinances and codes
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
  • Ability to perform strenuous work, including lifting heavy objects, and the ability to stand or stoop for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions and diagrams
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Work requires physical strain including bending, lifting, and standing
  • Overtime may be required as needed

As a condition of employment in this position, the incumbent will be subject to on call requests outside of regular hours and to respond to emergencies. The on-call phone will be a shared responsibility between technicians
