Position Summary

RCAH seeks highly skilled practitioners who can amplify and expand RCAH’s course offerings, particularly in 1. arts; 2. writing; 3. community engagement; and 4. humanities.

RCAH is a student-centered, undergraduate college that mobilizes the arts and humanities through a wide range of programming to create collaborative, community-engaged methods for addressing the complex societal problems facing our local and global communities and to reimagine and build a more just, equitable, and sustainable world. A residential college in the fullest sense, we build community among our students, faculty, staff, and the people around us. The College is grounded in—and pushes the boundaries of—the arts and humanities to create space for and deepen multiple ways of knowing that can be mobilized for equity and social justice.

We are committed to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming environment for the entire RCAH community — including students, faculty, staff, families, community partners, and visitors. As part of our recently completed strategic plan, RCAH embraces five core values: Seeding Change; Building Community; Creating Inclusive Futures; Fostering Radical Reciprocity; and (Re)imagining Possibilities of Social justice.

Courses are commonly taught across two days (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday). We will also consider offering classes on a single day to facilitate interested individuals interested in teaching who live and work outside the Greater Lansing area. We hope to expand our footprint in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Chicago, and across the Great Lakes region. As a residential college, it is expected that courses will be offered primarily in-person.

Throughout the year, RCAH accepts curriculum vitae and supporting materials from individuals interested in part-time teaching opportunities at MSU. RCAH at MSU will pay $8,000 per course, as well as offer $500 research or creative funding.
