Global Education & Outreach Coordinator
Position Summary
The Coordinator is expected to demonstrate curiosity for learning and focus on leveraging the strengths and bridge-building of diverse communities globally on issues, including, but not limited to, regions across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. This work supports interconnections among local, national, and global peoples and their societies/stories. The Coordinator will also support the student organizations through their active engagement with student leaders and advisors from these organizations. The Coordinator should exemplify the Division’s quality standards and exhibit behaviors that are respectful, responsive, and resourceful. All programs under the auspices of this position are designed to respond to the needs of students and the campus community in ways that are aligned with the university’s core values of quality, inclusiveness, and connectivity. Duties and responsibilities include:
● Organize seminar series, workshops and mini-conferences; work collaboratively with partners across campus who are hosting global scholars with intellectual expertise in the field related to, but not limited to, global engagement.
● Focus on understanding the intersectional/interconnected global community, world politics, and interactions between countries and international organizations, considering national and global contexts and perspectives.
● Helps students explore global engagement, including international development ethics, and the intricacies of how culture and society feed sociopolitical issues.
● Helping/Advising the student organizations and all students to understand and explore the intersectionality of global, national, and local lived experiences.
● Utilizing expertise and collaborate across inter-departmental strategic initiatives, program review, program and student learning outcomes development, and assessment to improve student learning related to their academic degree and professional training.
● Re-examine universal ideas through the perspective of marginalized groups and worldviews correlates to their advanced degree and field of expertise in education and international development.
● Supervise graduate students associated with the services of the unit, as needed.
● Represent Student Affairs on various strategic/planning committees and special task forces at the request of the unit Assistant Director, Director or AVP.

Communications/Interpersonal Relationship Interaction with:
● Vice President and Assistant/Associate Vice Presidents - to coordinate priorities, problem solve, and exchange of information; will also communicate for advice, direction and approval.
● Unit Directors – in order to serve as a resource person in their expertise in global strategic engagement and obtain necessary information for decision making.
● Students/Student Organizations – in order to advise, train, evaluate and resolve problems.
● Co-Workers and Colleagues – in order to coordinate activities and exchange information.
● University Departments/Staff/Faculty- in order to coordinate services, schedule presentations and exchange information.
● Clerical Staff – in order to exchange information.
● Off-Campus Agencies – in order to request services, coordinate programs and exchange information.
● Parents and Public – in order to provide information and resources.
The inaugural Global Engagement and Outreach Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Religious, Spiritual and Secular Identities (RSSI), who reports to Director of MOSAIC Center for Education and Outreach, who reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.
Provide first level supervision to professional staff and graduate or undergraduate students
Responsibility for Health/Safety of Others: This position has responsibility for the health and/or safety of others. Responsibilities include health education, preventive measures, decisions and policies, and compliance with safety regulations.
Impact on Programs/Services/Operations: The programs and work produced directly affects the image, success and future of the University. Inaccurate or unsuccessful programs may seriously affect the base of the University and its academic reputation.
Work Environment: Standard office environment. The job requires little physical effort and does require viewing a computer monitor screen for some of the work day.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge and education equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years post-bachelor's degree work, such as a Masters in Education and International Development relevant to higher education management and strategy; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in student affairs programs and services, research design and administration, or training and development programs; requires experience in specific cross-cultural education, counseling, and administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Ph.D. in higher education administration, international development, or a related area; fluency in a second language with a strong understanding of leadership to empower others; strong interest in learning, education, and self-reflection; strong sense of integrity, passion for social justice, and demonstrated creative initiative.
