Position Summary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research Excellence: Conduct education initiatives focused on substance use disorders in pregnant and parenting populations. Develop and implement studies aimed at improving outcomes and understanding the complexities of SUD during pregnancy, the peripartum period, and parenting.
  • Public Engagement: Engage with the lay public to destigmatize addiction, leveraging research insights to inform public discourse and policy.
  • Education and Training: Develop and deliver comprehensive educational programs aimed at destigmatizing addiction and enhancing care for individuals with SUD. Create training materials for a diverse range of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and recovery coaches.
  • Collaborative Initiatives: Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams within the department and across the university to promote integrated care approaches and foster a supportive environment for research and education on addiction.

Required Degree

Doctorate -•Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a related field.

Minimum Requirements

  • Extensive research experience in addiction, with a focus on pregnant and parenting individuals.
  • Proven track record of creating and implementing educational content and programs on substance use disorders.
  • Demonstrated competency in providing compassionate, non-judgmental care for individuals with SUD.
  • Strong history of public engagement and advocacy in destigmatizing addiction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to research and education.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience working with diverse populations and understanding the unique challenges faced by pregnant and parenting individuals with SUD.
  • Ability to translate complex research findings into practical applications for healthcare professionals and the public.
  • Passion for improving healthcare outcomes through education and de-stigmatization initiatives.
